A few weeks ago The Philly Home and Garden show gave 4 designers 4 dining room tables and the task to design a tablescape with a TV show theme.
With the help of World Market, my table came together.
I used lots of vintage music sheets to create a runner down the center of the table
that I thought was very
“Joanna Gaines-ish”. Wouldn’t you agree?
I layered the runner with tons of vintage books in blues and greens.
I love to combine old with new. So, the vintage books from my favorite thrift shop were just the vintage touch I needed to mix with my new World Market items.
Something was missing when I layered the music sheets and books, so I added moss in all the nooks and crannies.
In the center of the table I used a large blue tinted vase.
I filled the vase with corks to add a little texture.
One tip on the corks…save them as you celebrate special occasions. I pass the cork around when friends are over and have them sign their name or write something on the corks. The corks become a keepsake of that special night.
The white and green flower stems added just enough greenery without overwhelming the table.
I raised the height of the bottle a little with a rustic wood slice. I love the combination of the shiny glass against the grain of the wood.
Leaving some of the books piled on top of each other and some open creates movement and interest down the center of the table.
(little secret…I spray painted plastic knives and forks with gold spray paint to save $$, but obviously I wouldn’t do that if you were really going to use the flatware)
The black dishes are a fav of mine and I love the drama they bring to the table. I knew I wanted a high contrast between the music sheets and the plates, so matte black was the perfect choice.
More greenery with the faux succulent pots placed in the center of the settings.
Have you seen the new hobnob tumblers at World Market? The cutest!
And they would be so cute used in a bathroom to hold makeup brushes, or simply as a vase with some fresh peonies!
