I love when I can make something out of scraps in my garage.
I had extra metal pipes from another project. And, I always have scraps of wood lying around.
I painted the wood a pale gray, then used this black Annie Sloan wax over top.
I had never used a black wax before, so I was dying to try it out. I like the age it gave the gray paint and the black wax seems to coordinate better with gray pieces rather than a brown based wax.
The wood scrap on the left is the pale gray paint, the wood scrap on the right is the pale gray paint with the black wax.
The entire project is pretty straight forward. I used a “FLOOR FLANGE” for the base, which I screwed into the wood scrap.
Next, I screwed a 12″ long pipe into the flange.
Then, topped the 12″ pipe with a “CAP”
Slide the paper towel roll over top and you’re finished.
You could even layer several toilet paper rolls on it and keep it in a bathroom.
