Have you even seen a barnwood basketball backboard?
SO much cuter than what they’re using in the NBA.
We aren’t really a “basketball” family…or so I thought. Once We hung this barnwood basketball backboard and net, the kids started playing everyday.
All I really cared about it how stinkin’ cute it looked.
It all started when I noticed my son playing basketball when I would pick him up from aftercare. He had never been interested in the sport in the past, so I was happy to see him playing at the school gym.
I thought, hmm, maybe I should hang a net on the outside of our garage (which just happens to look like a little white barn). Once I got to the sporting goods store I was SHOCKED at how much a backboard and net cost. They were over $200. Luckily, you can purchase the hoop and net separate from the backboard for about $40.
I thought the store-bought backboards were too commercial looking for my taste anyhow, so I bought the hoop and net. Once I got home, I realize attaching the hoop to the barn wall directly would not be the most stable situation and might cause damage to the siding.
The barnwood basketball backboard you see now is a “door” I created to go on the top of my chicken coop coffee table. It never balance very well, so I wound up taking it off the table. It has been in my garage for about 2 years now.
I was going to sell the f=door in an upcoming yard sale, til it occurred to me that I could use it as a backboard.
So glad I saved this. I’m loving this!
Plus, it’s gets the whole family together. I;m looking forward to some nicer weather so the whole family can get out there and play HORSE (Jonas’ favorite).
pin for later
