I’m excited for a couple of different reasons::
- This room is as finished as it’s gonna get for a while and I’m okay with that.
- I took 3 naps this weekend. Three.
- I found out that Trader Joe’s Chile Lime spice is AMAZING when sprinkled on an avocado.
Isn’t life great?
This powder room makeover was pretty simple. We were able to do 100% of the changes ourselves with a little help from YouTube.
I like to tackle small rooms and add big impact. This powder room is the perfect place for a dramatic color and wall treatment (which I’m still working on).
First of all, let’s start with the before. Below is what the powder room looked like when we moved in in November 2018.
I know. It’s a very over the top underwhelming room.
I’m more of a go big or go home type of decorator. And, while this room is not shaking any style rules, I think it’s pretty dramatic, in a non-overly dramatic kinda way.
Replacing the vanity was a no-brainer. I knew the existing vanity HAD. TO. GO.
I wanted something with a muted color and legs so it didn’t appear so bulky in a small space, but also provided some storage.
The pattern on the walls are one of my favorite aspects of this powder room refresh. I used a herringbone stencil, and, as you can see – stopped when I was 90% complete. lol
My plan is to finish this the next time I am snowed in!
There is also the added bonus of the stained wood bead board ceiling. This ceiling treatment was here when we moved in. Although I may have not added, I’m glad it’s there. The bead board adds a little more texture and interest to this tiny spot.
And the SW Peppercorn painted crown molding? I know, I love it too.
I always love a little personality and craftiness in a space. This nail art sign was made by me a few years ago and used in a design room I created for the Philly Home Show.
More personality shows in the towel bar and toilet paper holder. I love industrial style, so I added these plumbing pipe bars in the powder room for a little more interest even though it’s a small space.
Other than the plumbing pipe towel bars, everything in the space was off the rack.
I’m really happy with how it turned out.
