Recently, Lucy and I decided to add a few accents to her bedroom. Our first step, is to add an accent wall to her bedroom. In phase two, we will add decorative wood beams to her ceiling.
We weren’t sure what that accent would be until we saw the gray decorative boards from
Ornamental Molding & Millwork
We order the planks and they were shipped right away. (measure the square footage you need and contact Ornamental Molding & Millwork to find out exactly how many boards you’ll need)
Above is the room in it’s usual state of despair. Below, is Lucy is ready to install the decorative wall planks!
The first thing we did was move the bed and dry fit the boards on the wall. We lined the boards up to see if you would nee to rip any of the boards or if they would fit perfectly in our space.
The boards needed to be trimmed about 4″ on the end. We used liquid nails on the back of each board to attach it to the wall.
We also used a level to make sure we were laying each panel laid perfect straight and plum.
The boards are very thin and light weight. But, we still used a brad nailer at the top and bottom of each board to make sure they stayed in place while the glue was drying.
Although Lucy looks exhausted, this whole process only took about 1.5 hours.
The results are amazing. The decorative boards add the perfect texture we were looking for in Lucy’s room.
Up next…wood ceiling beams.
